Banana Seat's "Drop It In" EP has been jamming in iTunes for the past few weeks but we recently adjusted the release for some upcoming things we have in the works that we can't so much talk about right now. So you'll get one less song but but to make up for this lack of tunage we're sharing a free bootleg we did of Buddy Bye called Make Room for the Big Man. Hope this keeps you raving and stay tuned for more!
this here is the audio from our new DVD mixtape project. Basically its an hour long mix with accompanying visuals, not necessarily music videos more like the video equivalent of our dj edits or something like that. ANYWAY come see us on tour to get one of these things..... or for now just listen to /download the audio and get one when they go up for sale on the Lab site (or at another fine bootleg disc provider near you.)
The Death Set/WIN WIN tour starts monday... This Friday we party one good last time in NY @ Public Assembly Loft along-side DJ Spankrock. Its the first installment of Mexican Radio...Expect beat. soul. psych. no-wave. ET AL. Freakout muisc to dance to...
If you're jamming to the Banana Seat mixtape come see us play Friday at our old stomping grounds in Boston. XXXChange is gonna play some chunes and deserves big thanks for mixing the Banana Seat EP tracks and getting them mastered and released. Part of this year's Together Festival where there's something fun happening every night this week. Don't burn out though Boston we're coming for ya!
If you've been reading between the lines on this here blog you may have heard rumblings of a side project from me and Durkin called Banana seat. Durkin and I are sort of kindred spirits in that we're both named Ryan, we both grew up in the east coast suburbs, and we both listened to a lot of 90's big beat, house, and rave. You'll hear some of that influence in the songs on our soon to be released EP. This mixtape contains those tunes and some other Banana Seat edits and blends, plus tracks we love both new and old. Grab it from our Soundcloud and stay tuned for the EP drop!
We enlisted Colin Devin Moore to direct an official video for Interleave and he did an amazing job. He took what was maybe 5 minutes of footage he was able to get with Alexis before our release party and turned it into this head trip of a multimedia masterpiece. You'll see tiny snippets from our live show worked in here but the brunt of it comes from Colin and his post production team. Here are the complete credits:
Directed by Colin Devin Moore
Visual Effects by Colin Devin Moore and Gil Amorin
shot by Colin Devin Moore and Brock Fetch
special thanks to Babyleg (Brian DeRan), Scion, Vice,
Ghostdad, XXXChange, Devlin, and Alexis.
Amazing work guys couldn't have turned out better. Thanks everyone who kept the moving parts in motion. Watch the video above!!!
Here's an edit I cut together for Zombie Nation's "Chick Flick." He sent me some footage from the 70's BBC series "UFO," and I had my Win Win style way with it (thanks Klassen/Devlin/Alex for the input). The full single with remixes comes out on March 21st and by the looks of his website something big and album like is planned for September 3rd. Been really feeling Zombie Nation productions lately and this one's no different. Florian was really cool to work with too. He even does some live stream collabos with fans via his youtube page and Ustream. Pretty cool stuff. Can't wait to hear more!
This is coming from a new guy to join the ranks of Fully Fitted and we didn't stray too far from home on this one. Apparently XXXchanges family just spills out musical goodness and his little cousin is no exception. Power Paws sent us this Moombahton remix recently and we were kind of floored when we listened in studio.
This Saturday our buds from Gang Gang Dance and Spencer Sweeney are throwing a party/live show/art installation in the downstairs bar at Santos. I'll be lending some visual assistance chopping up the usual deluge of source materials more free form than the Win Win sets. It's the return of the Emergency Party (see promo video below) but is also being called "Somebody Arted In Here" by the flyers on the wall. Come smell it Saturday night!
Here is a new old edit I am finally putting out for everyone. Trouble & Bass released this song in 2009 I believe and I have had this edit sitting in my computer for too long of a time. The idea was to have Circleface re sing it, but it never happened. I combined pieces of the original + the Thomas Anderson remix and this is the final dubby product.
It is a limited download on Soundcloud, so get it fast!
Its cold here in the east, so when you can leave the oven on for a few hours to make delicious food, its generally a good idea to do so. Reformed (notorious) Baltimore party boi, Nicholas Crabtops, sent this Carnitas recipe to get you started.
Braising is my favorite way to cook meat. Start with a shoulder
Break it down to good sized chunks and remove more or less fat and connective tissue Save the scraps and make chicharrones (do that)
Season the meat with S&P, oregano, and cumin
Brown it in batches
If I don't have any home made stock I use a mix of chicken, beef, and veg, plus a jar of salsa verde, also add and onion, garlic, bay leaves, and some chilis
Cook low and slow with a tight lid at 215 for 3-4 hours
Don't look so percky anymore
Remove the meat and bust it up with forks use some braising liquid for lube, spread it on a baking sheet and roast for 15min at 350 to crisp it up. No pics i was too excited
Saute some brussel sprouts and steame with a little bit of that lube... serve with rice.
Add cilantro, onion, avacado, and pickled jalapenos, with some warm tortillas
As some of you already know, Fully Fitted got a new project going on called WIN WIN. XXXchange, Devlin, and Ghostdad run the WIN WIN show and the full length album is due to drop Feb 15th on Vice Records.
Lots of blogging been taking place for the leaks of the first single off the record, Release RPM, featuring Lizzie from Gang Gang Dance on vocals.
Now the official version of the single is out in all it's wonderful glory with an unreleased B-side sitting nicely next to that Moombahton remix from Nadastrom.
This new Knife mix is great for running/PUMPING IRON. It really sounds like a set you would have heard from Knife at Shake em Down in the old Milky Way Lounge (RIP).
When he's not DJing, Knife is busy at Goodlife keeping the working DJs of Boston employed, as well as booking out-of-towners like Scottie B, Eleven, Stretch, Assault, and Prince Paul... Good work bud. What he's not doing is posting on his ol' blog (c'mon). Thankfully Sleazy Trees is keeping the laugh quotient high OVER THERE. That's what i say, heres what Knife says...
"Hey y'all! Here's a live mix of some old and new tracks I'm feeling right now. Special shout out to Will C from Traffic for mastering this bad larry. Please visit www.djknife.com when you get a chance. Thanks for taking a listen and enjoy responsibly kids!"
Nadastrom (aka originators of Moombahton) remixed our song RELEASERPM for the release of the upcoming single and we couldn't be more psyched! According to Nada himself this will be the first "Moombahton" track pressed to wax. Pretty neat! Grab both tracks over at Pitchfork or at Vice Records where you can also follow all the audio and video promos that have been dropping as of late. The 12" single comes out on the 18th!
