Basically, my lack of updates to the blog have been due to touring with Amanda "Trampy Grandma" Blank for the past four and a half months. So far, we've been on the road with Santigold, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Matt & Kim (presently) and Peaches in November. Here are my most recent phone photos from the current Matt & Kim tour.
Matt and Kim @ Triple Rock Social Club (Minneapolis, MN)
The Tour Whip! Yea... Its the same shitty ass van, tour in & tour out.
Did a show in Visalia, CA at a pizza parlor...
Check out the salad bar sound booth!
While in Boise, ID @ the Neurolux, we met this guy...
He ended up having an ape shit amount of scorpions under his hat!
The Idaho set list (with Matt & Kim creeper hand)
When did they stop allowing guns in Denny's?
Whats gayer then a rainbow? Two rainbows... at the same time!
Scenic drives are nice, but really... Fuck Nature!
I still have a gang of Lomo photographs waiting to be scanned from the Santi tour, so when those finally get finished.... I'll post a little something special for all you creeps.
... excerpt from footage I've been sifting through for the next video... We've been using the echo mic whenever possible since Alexxx's crazy ass Birthday party Last year.
While Chris has been taking tour video of creepers and thirsty people (inside joke), I've been taking O.G. 120 film photos with a Diana F+ camera. Its going to take a while before they can be developed, but I'm hoping that they'll turn out more artistic and vastly more interesting then regular, bum ass digital photos.
San Francisco, Sacramento, Oregon, Washington, Vancouver, Minneapolis, Iowa, Baltimore and Boston are all in the bag. We're currently in the Tour Van headed up to Toronto and Montreal, hoping that Chris' past criminal activity as a youth doesn't hold us up for another two hours at the Canadian border... AGAIN!
"No officer, there are no drugs in the vehicle... we already ate them all"
D&D went out to San Bernardino, California last Saturday, backing Ms. Blank at the Audiotistic festival thang thang. We were originally scheduled to be on the Hip-Hop stage, but we managed to find a spot at the more appropriate Electro: Citrus Building w/ DJ Funk, Floss & Chromeo. The kiddies were out in full effect and decked out in the most mind boggling, non-parent approving outfits ever. All in all, everything turned out great and we're really excited for this upcoming Amanda Blank & Santigold tour. And... I finally got to meet Z-Trip, thanks to Thee Mike B!
While Chris heads out to Coachella this weekend, I'll be heading out to his neck of the woods in Boston. See the flyer above for all the info about me DJing, but I'm really coming to town to scoop up all that left over Easter candy at the dollar stores... Peep Game!
I've been flying around the states a lot lately, but not busting out the camera as much as I used to. Just living in the moment instead of behind the lens, but occasionally... I grab a quick pic with my phone.
Went down to SXSW and had tacos in Texas with the Fully Fitted fam
Bought last minute tickets to WMC and chillaxed with friends
Stayed down by the Beach at a friend's condo... the balcony view!
Had the 2nd Annual OMD Sushi Eating Contest, this years winner: Contra w/ 15 plates
Runner up: Matt Sherman w/ 14 plates
Hung out with Fred Hardley, errr... I mean Kurt from Floss
Spent my last night in Miami at The Standard... One More Day status
Checked in and got a comp bottle to welcome me back
Skipped right on over to Dallas for a gig at the PLUSH nite club
7-11 across the street had "NASCAR TURBO LIP BALM: NITRO LEMON"... For when you need to shift your lips into full gear!
Capone-N-Noreaga's "Rotate" has been my new theme song lately!
Chris & I just got back from the Stereosonic Tour in Australia and it was literally, an all expense paid summer vacation. We had one gig, then chilled in Sydney for a week, then four gigs and another 4 days off... Insane! But, while Plastic Little sat in there hotel rooms the whole time, Chris, Dave & myself, maximized every possible moment.
Levins cooked up one of the most amazing Thanksgiving dinners I've ever had in my life. Literally... I didn't even get diarrhea! He also made us a home cooked meal of Ribs and vegetables (pictured above) when we first arrived in Sydney. He definitely gives Alex a run for his money in the kitchen. I'm suggesting an international Iron Chef cook off!
Went down to the Opera House to visit the Ice Bar for some dranks, but ended up getting all grown and sexy with some sweets. Extravagant desserts and wine/coffee are my new guilty pleasure.
This guy got all excited when he saw the downtown area's courtyard Christmas tree installation. Sadly, that kid was never seen again.
Went out on the town with Neha and the nice Nina from hoops and stopped at this superb Sushi restaurant, where I snapped this pic of Chris. We also encountered a gallery which was displaying tons of fancy cat paintings. Chris has an iPhone pic of the most amazing "gay" cat in the set, but we haven't traded photos yet, so...
Once we saw Levins' catalogue of "spoiling other peoples photos", we became inspired. A lot of celebrating, "Schoolies" and making out!
From the moment we landed, Australia was all up in Christmas' ass.... Hard! They don't do the whole Thanksgiving thing, so I guess they start celebrating X-mas early. Which is just creepy, like this photo.
Once we finished the festival dates and met back in Sydney on Monday, we went straight to Bondi Beach for a party at Icebergs (which is the best place in all of Sydney). Anna from hoops was spinning and turned the free drink and hors d'oeuvres party into the greatest night ever. She even brought her famalam!
So great in fact, that the shoes had to go up in celebration... continuing the Turbo Tradition! So much funny shit happened, hopefully I caught some of it on video (which I'll post up soon). And if you missed it the first time around... Swirlpool (Australian Radio Mix, Pt. Darko)
Oh yea... I also did an FBI Radio promo for DJ Assult while I was in town. Look out, I'm building quite the resume!
For some stupid reason, I thought I was going to be able to stand near the front of the stage and just watch. What I didn't know was... people still mosh and they like doing it a lot! Along with crowd surfing, yea... thats still popular too. I ended up going to the show with an old friend from elementary school, but I lost him once we got inside... he bolted to the front to be blasted by the "biledriver"!
Independently, Chris & I have recently made 'mini-mixes' for the radio stations in Australia. These are primarily for the purpose of promoting our upcoming festival gigs and will most likely get run with some sort of phone interview, which I think is being left in the hands of Dr. Devlin. Since I currently have a hatred for all of my music right now, I loathed the idea of having to make one of these, but It turned out alright. So, I'm sending it in to the powers that be and posting it on the blog, because I heard some of you lizards like that sorta shit.
