If you've been reading between the lines on this here blog you may have heard rumblings of a side project from me and Durkin called Banana seat. Durkin and I are sort of kindred spirits in that we're both named Ryan, we both grew up in the east coast suburbs, and we both listened to a lot of 90's big beat, house, and rave. You'll hear some of that influence in the songs on our soon to be released EP. This mixtape contains those tunes and some other Banana Seat edits and blends, plus tracks we love both new and old. Grab it from our Soundcloud and stay tuned for the EP drop!
This mix was recorded during a weird day in January...We drank whiskey and talked about channeling with Cosmo, hung out with Prince Paul and crew, and recorded this: RUB RADIO MIX
We did this mix and interview for Self Titled Magazine a few weeks back... It runs the gamut from brand new to old musics, and has some "esclusives".. It was recorded live using this set-up:
well just double post i guess but it doesn't have the same ring does it. first up here's a new mix from our good buddy roger yamaha in tokyo called "house of roger" as you might expect, there's some house music on there.
ALSO my remix of Charlotte Gainsbourg's "time of the assassins" is up on beatport and probably elsewhere too. big shout out to ghostdad for helping me out on this one
While we were down in Australia Ron and I dropped in on Andre Calman's radio show The Hands of Tyme: Music from the Psycadelic era. We talked about music, cracked some bad jokes, and I played tracks which hopefully satisfied the taste of the listeners ... Here is the live mix on 2SER. (I edited out some of our conversation). Thanks for the BBQ Andre!

So let's kick off the new year right with Live at Home pt 25 from our dude, Jayceeoh! This mix is a nice refreshing start for 2010. Super soulful and skillfully done. Here are some words from the man himself.
A few weeks ago the Fully Fitted homies hit me up and asked if I would be down to record a mix for the Live at Home series. I had been a familiar with the series but not up to date on all of the releases. I checked it out and a bunch of my favorite DJs had already thrown down, so I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. When I asked what type of mix I should do the instructions were what "play what you would want to listen to on a sunday afternoon at your crib." I was feeling that vibe. I have been putting out alot of mixes recently but more on the upbeat tip in the interest of booking gigs and what not. I was pumped to throw down some classy tunes to chill out to. I didnt do my usualy style with lots of cuts and quick mixing. I let this mix breathe and am very happy with the outcome. Enjoy! - jayceeoh

wazzzaaap. I haven't posted on this thing in ages. So this afternoon I did a Live At Home mix. just fartin around on the turntables procrastinating on cleaning up the crib. These are some of my favorite jams. I let the songs play out and some of the mixes are sloppy and one of my serato records had a scratch in it so it was skipping on some songs but that's all in the spirit of Live at Home right? I reaaaaalllly wanted to go in on the early 90's R&B but I spared you after a few choice cuts... oh yeah and there's some new Pase exclusive world premiere jams on there... actually just one from me, and then some other randomness... bump it late night, early in the morning... in your hooptie or your big body Benz. It's all to the good.
Very excited about this one... I contacted Frank from the always great Voodoofunk blog about doing a Live at Home mix. It turned out that he was on his way to Africa, but he had a mix for his new night "Lagos Disco Inferno" that needed a home...Needless to say, I extended our site.
I'll let Frank's words explain, but I highly recommend going to the blog and downloading the mixes there. Lots of heavy grooves and upliftment! Summertime soundtracks through and through.(this one has been in constant rotation in my headphones.)
Nigeria in the 70s had a recording industry that most foreigners cannot begin to comprehend.Hundreds of Funk and Disco bands recorded for big companies like EMI, Decca, Polydor, and an uncountable number of independent labels. Yet this incredibly vibrant scene remained ignored by everybody outside of West Africa. Until now: "Lagos Disco Inferno" is the only club night on earth devoted to spreading the power of Nigerian Disco music! It's time to face the heat and to fully submit ourselves to some of the heaviest grooves ever created by mankind. Lets get together and celebrate the heroes of a time and place beyond the things we know. See you there, -Frank SAT. June 20th 10pm $5 Gasslands 289 Kent ave. btwn South 1st &2nd
It's been almost a year exactly since Live@home jumped off and its great to have Chico Sonido here for the birthday party. I asked for a Live@Home mix and he obliged. Lucky for us. This mix is the shit.
On the Mix: " 'paisadelic' is the word i like to use to describe the sound of my first album wich is a mix between the words "paisa" (that comes from "paisano" that is the term mexicans use to call the one from their own country, in LA this word is used by cholos to refer to mexicans) , and the word 'psychedelic'. "
Mix is released here and over at 8106....they post cool videos and good MP3s...visual game, also tight.
A few things about Chico Sonido : He is from Mexico and is currently living in LA. He did that awesome cumbia refix of Rye Rye's Shake it To The Ground last year. He apparently has an awesome record collection. He is set to release an album sometime real soon. Check out his tracks and mixes here.
1) Last week I was trying to track down what I thought was an Emporer Machine song called Profundito. Turns out I had it all wrong. The song is called Profundita, and it's not by The Emporer Machine.
2) I posted a mix last week and didn't know actual name or artist of the last song on the mix. I got the song from Emily Rabbit and when she sent it, there was no artist tag. Luckily, someone named Liquid Vega sorted out the mystery in the comments section after the post.
This truly awesome song is called Loving You Sometimes. Get all the info and the track @ Garage Hangover . how i feel :

I got this mix from Karl Hungus (Shop Gentei Sound System, BBC r.i.p) about a year ago ... I had asked him for a Live at Homemix because his crates are quite deep and he slaughtered Darko and I at the legendary '45 night' at the Ottobar a few years back.(Ron, please post)
He sent me a mix with this attached:
A lil "sompin sompin" i did the night before i went out to japan in January. had a bunch of friends asking me to make a mix for them, some wanted straight club, some wanted biale, some wanted disco, electro etc etc. I didnt have time to make 1 each so i just went up the bpm scale and did it in 1 take. started about 105, and finished up around 130. some joints in there i love, and some i just like. no track listings, cause if your a dj you should know already, and if your not then its not important. you cant really buy any of the songs on cd anyway. just listen and enjoy. i tried and play as many of them from vinyl as i can, some are straight to mp3 though so you know the deal. serato!
Do It Again started as monthly Sunday night held down by myself, Devlin, and our friend Ryan Durkin. It was a hang out and play whatever we want in a small bar type situation and turned out pretty fun each time we did it. Eventually our dudes Mayhem and Brek. One starting holding down other Sundays at the same spot so we decided to roll crew deep and make it a rotating jam session on the weekly. It's turning into the premiere Sunday destination, and to take it one step further we'll be recording live mixes from the night and putting them on our Soundcloud page. My latest entry is above but check the rest out at Soundcloud.com/doitagain with fresh batch probably up in January. All killer, and all live. Some might say we were inspired by the "live at home" series, well consider this live at the club with a feel all it's own. And Soundcloud is a pretty neat spot for sharing tracks and mixes so friend if up if you're on there! Do It Again will be going down tonight (Sunday) at Zuzu, sans me but rumor has it Devlin is making a return?
One of my main Miami partners-in-crime, Induce... has a podcast on the regular. His latest mix was recorded live at LVL 25 @ The Conrad Hotel, where he "kinda spazzed out and went all over the board" since no one was there. Luckily for you, its up for easy download and its amazingly perfect for the cold, holiday season. Also, its a great reprieve from face-melters and music that wobbles. So, get your holiday on and be inspired... now!
From February to August we did a sereis of mixes here called Live@home. All the mixes were recorded Live, in someones house, with no post-mix editing. They came out pretty dope and we got a lot of really great Feedback. Well, its time to grease the wheels for this next round of mixes with a couple given to us in the same vein, for exclusive download.
This week: Eli Escobar who is, among other things, the mastermind behind Pase Rock's Grammy award nominated 12" So Fuckin Disco.
This Mix from Eli is one that he streamed at his Blog but has given to us to post up for download. It's Live, it's from his home and now its yours world...
Eli on the Mix:
"I was digitizing this 12 inch of this old Imagination song and just started djing while I was recording for about 38 minutes. The thing that always surprises me about vinyl is I can lock in two records in about 3 seconds, go make myself a frozen pizza, eat it, take a shit and come back 6 minutes later and they will still be perfectly in synch. Big difference from Serato (especially when you're djing in a club and the bass is making your green circles all fuzzy). I've been really struggling with the gayness of Serato recently and although I have no plans to stop using it, djing with records every once in a while is good therapy! So these are just old records I've had for years and years and still never get sick of hearing. Enjoy!"
Damn!6 mins.Cook, Eat, shit. Eli Escobar, you are a genius for that one
